Like the Energizer Bunny, he keeps going and going! {Victoria, BC Family Photographer}

This last weekend I met up with the "B" family for their Fall photos. I met with them around this time last year, when their little guy, "B" was just a baby. This year he was in full toddler mode, and with more energy than the rest of us! That wasn't the only change since last year! Little "B" will soon be a big brother! We got lucky with dry weather, and so little Mr. "B" got to run around and my task for the morning was trying to catch him in fun-mode! Mom & dad were great about scooping up "B" and trying to entertain him when all he really wanted to do was run. It was a fun shoot, and even Grandma got in on the fun! Thanks for coming out during our dry spell! It was great to see you all again!

Sometimes the weather is on my side. Other times, however, the weather seems to be out to get me! I made plans with "C" and her family several times, but it seemed like as many times as we rescheduled, the weather decided to see our new date and raise us some downpour!  Finally, we made a plan for me to meet up with the family at their residence and do some relaxed photos in the privacy, (and dryness), of their home! It was a fun, quick session with "C", "J" and their little guy "R".  Before I knew it, our time together was over and it was time for little "R" to get his well deserved yogurt!

After such a gorgeous, long Summer, we're certainly getting our share of rain now! Family sessions in the rain have their fair share of challenges, especially when there are little tiny kiddos involved. When I made plans to set up a shoot with the "T" family, we decided to outsmart the rain by meeting in a covered area! The Government House was a perfect fit for our needs and we were able to spend the bulk of our session in the glass greenhouse. We did venture out of the greenhouse toward the end of the session, and though the rain was falling, we still made the best of it! I love how children embrace the rain, and have just as good of a time as if it was sunny! It was great to shoot this family for the second time, and to see how much their little guy, M, had grown!

The P Family Fall Mini-Portrait Session {Victoria, BC Family Photographer}

I met the "P" family for the first time on Saturday.  Their little guy "E" was busy, busy, busy! I enjoyed his energy, and wouldn't you know it, he stopped here and there for some photos! We had a really nice time together, but I think that "E" was happy when I said we were done! I'd say he'd a typical boy in that regard! It was great to meet this family!

As amazing as it is, the sweet, delicate little newborn that I photographed this time last year is now a beautiful little toddler! Little "S" was on a mission to go play with the ducks while we were together, so we made use of the wagon that her parents brought to try to refocus her attention.  "S" was happy and in full toddler go-go-go mode, but I did grab some shots on the run! It was great to see "S" and her parents again, and to get some photos of them all enjoying each other!

Little miss P turns two Fall Mini-Portrait Session {Victoria, BC Family Photographer}

My shoot with little miss "P" was to commemorate her 2nd birthday. Or at least that was the story! In truth, I'm pretty sure they conspired to get me some much needed exercise. "P" was at the top of her game on Saturday, and did many a lap around me as I tried to catch some shots of her at play. She had a blast running through the leaves and playing keep away from me! In the end, I think the shots of her are a pretty good indicator of her personality as she gets ready to turn two! She's a happy, spunky little girl with a tonne of personality! Happy birthday "P"!

 

P & L Fall Mini-Portrait Session {Victoria, BC Family Photographer}

My final shoot of the day Saturday was with "P" and her son "L". Sometimes you get the opportunity to work with people who wear their heart on their sleeves, whether they mean to or not. This mother and son were just those type of people. Every family has a dynamic, and the dynamic in this family was love. As I sifted through the photos for P and L, I saw love in every photo of them together. I saw a mother who was crazy about her son, and a son who cherished his mother. I see this a lot with mothers of tiny kids, but not so much with older kids. It is truly beautiful, and I'm very thankful that I was able to spend time with this family.

Have I mentioned lately how much I enjoy seeing clients' children grow and change?! Well, little Mr. "C" is a perfect example! My first time shooting C he was 6 weeks old. He had the most beautiful big brown eyes, and was as sweet as can be. I shot him about 6 months later, and marveled at his ability to sit, and on Saturday, he was walking! Shockingly enough, after our session, C's parent's left to celebrate his 1st birthday party. I simply cannot believe how fast time flies! "C" was just as darling as he has been the past two times that we've met, only this time he had the sweetest curls which melted my heart! He still has gorgeous big brown eyes, and a fabulous disposition. It was absolutely great to see C and his parents again!

The R family Fall Mini-Portrait Session {Victoria, BC Family Photographer}

I met up with "A" and her darling little guy for the first time on Saturday. I found it quite interesting that he was so similar to the 4 year old boy I shot earlier in the day; there must be a "play hard to get" section in the 4 year old boy manual! We sure had a good time trying to get his beautiful smile to show up though! He played the "make faces" game, the "don't look at the camera" game, and the "pretend there's no camera" game. It turns out that his mama was a champion tickler, and finally got some great smiles out of him by giving his ticklish ribs a poke. :) In the end, I do believe it was a success!
