It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

What a lovely Fall day for a photo session with the "F" family! It was a little chilly, but that suited the season! The darling little girls brought along some fun red ornaments to accent their photos, which added just the right amount of Christmas cheer to their photos! We met on a nearby beach, where the family loves to spend time, and the girls were right at home. It was great to meet this fun family and to take their photos!

Trees, leaves, and fun! {North Saanich Family Photographer}

I recently met up with the fun "S family at a nearby park, and enjoyed the beauty of the Fall foliage! What gorgeous weather we had for our session! This beautiful family was a hoot, with kids ranging from wee to teen! The kids were great sports though, and posed for their portraits before pelting each other and their parents with leaves! It was a great shoot, and I loved meeting these guys!

It's almost like being in Hawaii!

The very best compliments a photographer can receive are to be recommended to friends and family, and to be hired again! When I was contacted by "Y", asking me to take family portraits for her extended family I was incredibly touched; both of her daughters have been clients of mine in the past. I had been toying with the idea of returning from my mat leave, and this was the perfect opportunity to get back in the saddle!  After several months away from photography to welcome our newest family member, it was wonderful to be back behind the lens! The three generations of family members were absolutely lovely to work with, and I especially enjoyed little "C", with his adorable independence, and his older cousin "L", who is such a character! I really enjoyed meeting Grandma and Grandpa as well! They had brought matching shirts back from Hawaii for the boys, and we made sure to get a "Hawaii shirt" photo with their Papa. The best part was the patch of bamboo we found to take the photos with. It was almost like being in Hawaii!
It was so great to work with you again "C", "J", and "P"! Thank you for inviting me into your lives once again, you're fabulous!

Sugar, spice, and everything nice!

I met the "S" family for the first time last weekend. They had two darling little girls who were the epitome of sweetness. I have no doubt they're always that way at home too! Big sister "M" was absolutely adorable, and was as sweet as can be with her baby sister. Little "H" was full of smiles, and it took a lot of restraint to keep myself from taking her home with me! The whole "W" family was absolutely the cutest family, and made my job super easy. The hardest part was deciding which photos to use! Thanks for meeting up with me "S" family, it was wonderful to meet you!

Daffodils, sticks, and Mario!

It's always such a pleasure to shoot sessions for return clients.  I met up with the "W" family for my first mini-session of the day, and took photos of their adorable kiddos!  It's amazing to see how much the kids have grown since I last took photos of them in the Fall. The kids were absolutely adorable with big brother carrying around a couple of  flowers, and little sister enjoying a stick that was just her size!  Big brother has a great smile, but shied away from the camera for a good portion of our session. In the end, dad brought out the big guns and got the giggles rolling by talking about Mario and Donkey Kong. All it took was talk of the Wii, and Mr. "I" climbed out of his shell for some fun photos! Little sister was so sweet, and was so much more grown up than our last session! Instead of running after her for photos like last session, she smiled sweetly and made the session fly by. I had a great time shooting these two, and hope their Spring is filled with lots of flowers, sticks, and Mario!

Spring Mini Sessions 2013

It's that time of year already! Spring is upon us, and we are being flooded by blossoms popping through the ground! That must mean it's time for Spring mini-shoots!

This year I'm changing things up a bit.

First of all, the mini-sessions are going to be 15 minutes in length. Second, I will be including a $20 print credit in the session fee. This way, you will have beautiful prints of your family to display within weeks of your session. I am also including web-sized files of each print ordered so that you have an electronic version to email and share. Finally, I will be providing a custom Facebook cover photo to highlight your session.

Also new this season: I am requiring that the $50 retainer (session fee) be paid at the time of booking. Unfortunately, over the past few years, I have had a fair number of no-shows for my mini-session marathons. I have also had wait-lists for people who hope to fill a last minute-opening, but I can't offer a no-show spot until it is too late to get in touch with my wait-list. In order to make sure that the spots are valued, and given to those people who are invested in the session, I am requiring that the entire session fee be paid up-front. This can be done via Paypal, credit card, or you can contact me for other arrangements. I hope that you can all understand my reasoning behind this new policy.

*5 minute breaks are designed for one session to move and another to get into position so I can have a full 15 minutes to photograph your family.

****If all spots are not filled I may ask that you change your change your time so that there isn't a large gap.

-These spots are first come, first serve. I will try to accommodate your requests, but I will keep an updated list of available times, and will edit them as reservations are made.

-As time is limited during mini-shoots, there is a 6 person limit, though you can email me if your situation requires more people per session and we can discuss details from there.

-Wardrobes should reflect personality and should be clothes that you are comfortable in. If this means that your whole family matches, great! Otherwise, mix and matched bright clothing always allows for beautiful photos. Please refrain from wearing clothing with logos or characters on them as this will distract from you and your family in the photographs.

-Please show up at least 10 minutes prior to your session. This keeps everyone on schedule. Small children and their parents alike don't like being delayed.

-No wardrobe changes.

-If you have any questions at all, or if you would like to see my product price list, please feel free to email me at: bibbphoto@gmail.com

Thank you!!

Baby belly on a beautiful winter morning

I met up with "G" and "P" at the Government House on what had to be one of the nicest Winter mornings that we've had so far in Victoria. It was still a chilly morning, but it was clear, bright, and the sun even made an appearance every now and then! G & P were absolutely fabulous to work with, and humored even the strangest of requests in order to get some maternity shots of their upcoming arrival!  We walked the bulk of the grounds, and even had P wander off the path a bit in order to get some more interesting shots. It was such a great session, and I really enjoyed meeting this lovely couple, and spending such a nice morning with them. I wish you both the very best in the weeks to come, with your little one making an appearance very soon here!

Love, Laughter, and a Lake!

I met up with the "R" family at their home to snap some indoor photos of their new little one, miss "H". She was an absolute doll, and took to the camera like a duck to water!  After our quick stint indoors, we moved to the nearby park, which is on the shores of a lovely lake. Our photo session was rather bittersweet as the family was packing up that same week to move away, but I was thankful for the chance to meet them all, and to spend a bit of time together. You have a really wonderful family "J" and "T", I really enjoyed spending time with you and your gorgeous girls!

Suits and hockey

I recently had the pleasure of meeting with the "L" Family, who were gracious enough to invite me into their home for photos. They had a darling little girl, and two cutie pie little guys. We had some challenges getting little Mr. "N" to join us for photos, but mom and dad were fabulous negotiators! The kids were simply gorgeous, and oh-so-much fun to photograph! Thanks "L" family for letting me meet your fabulous family!

Empressed by the beauty

I made a pretty big decision last year, that it would be my last year taking on weddings. I have enjoyed every wedding that I have been asked to take part in as a photographer, and am thankful for the families I have met along the way!  However, I felt that I needed more time to commit to family sessions. I know that children, families and couples are the type of photography sessions that I really want to take on full time. But there was one last hurrah before I said goodbye to weddings. My sister, who lives in the UK and got married over there just a few days before Christmas, asked me to take bridal portraits and reception photographs for herself and her new husband: my new brother-in-law here in Victoria! The portraits were to be taken at the reception venue: the Empress. It was an absolutely gorgeous reception, only upstaged by the bride and groom, who were wearing 18th century themed wedding attire. I'm so thankful that I had the opportunity to spend this afternoon with them, and to document such a wonderfully important day!

I will only be sharing this one single photo, which I feel speaks volumes of the love and passion that these two special people feel for one another. The rest will be going to the bride and groom for approval before they choose which they would like to share with the world.

Congratulations to these two amazing people!
